Use the Asset Picker
The Asset Picker lets you browse and select assets from the Storyteq CMP DAM without leaving the application you are working in. How you open the Asset Picker, and what happens to the assets you select, depends on that application.
The Asset Picker works with the following applications:
Figma
Figma inserts a copy of each asset you select into your Figma file.
Before you begin, ensure you have the CMP Asset Picker plugin available in your Figma workspace, and your CMP credentials.
-
In an open Figma project, select the extensions button in the bottom toolbar, then select CMP Asset Picker.
-
Enter your tenant URL and select Connect, then sign in with your company credentials in the browser tab that opens. Figma keeps you signed in and remembers your filter preferences between sessions.
-
Find the assets you want:
-
Search by keyword.
-
In the filter panel, filter by keyword and by created date.
-
Sort by name, date created, or type.
-
-
To view an asset’s details, such as its size, format, and created date, select the asset, then select the information icon in the bottom bar.
-
Select one or more assets. Select an asset again to deselect it.
-
Select Download. If derivatives are available, select the ones you need, then confirm.
The Asset Picker window closes and your chosen assets appear in the Figma project.
Jira
Jira attaches a copy of each asset you select to the issue.
Before you begin, ensure you have the CMP Asset Picker app installed in your Jira instance, and your CMP credentials.
-
Open or create a Jira issue, select the … menu in the top-right corner, then select CMP Asset Picker.
-
Enter your tenant URL and select Connect, then sign in with your company credentials in the browser tab that opens. Jira keeps you signed in and remembers your filter preferences between sessions.
-
Find the assets you want:
-
Search by keyword.
-
In the filter panel, filter by keyword and by created date.
-
Sort by name, date created, or type.
-
-
To view an asset’s details, such as its size, format, and created date, select the asset, then select the information icon in the bottom bar.
-
Select one or more assets. Select an asset again to deselect it.
-
Select Add to Project. If derivatives are available, select the ones you need, then confirm.
The Asset Picker window closes and your chosen assets are attached to the issue.
| After the Asset Picker closes, Jira continues to generate preview images for the attachments in the background. This can take a short time, and you may need to refresh the page before the previews appear. |
CA
In CA, the Asset Picker shows a fixed collection of assets that an administrator has linked to the asset field in your template. You do not sign in, and you can select only one asset at a time.
Before you begin, ensure you have a CA template with an asset field linked to a managed asset view.
-
Create a media in CA using a template that has a linked asset field.
-
Select Select next to the asset field. The Asset Picker opens over the CA media creation window and displays the assets linked to that field.
-
Find the asset you want:
-
Search by keyword.
-
In the filter panel, filter by keyword and by created date.
-
Sort by name, date created, or type.
-
-
To view an asset’s details, such as its size, format, and created date, select the asset, then select the information icon in the bottom bar.
-
Select the asset, then select Download and choose Original Asset.
Select Original Asset to ensure the correct size and resolution is used in your media creation.
The Asset Picker window closes and your chosen asset appears in the media creation.
To change the asset later, open an adaptation that uses the CA template. The adaptation shows the asset selected previously. Open the Asset Picker from the adaptation and select another asset from the linked collection.
Troubleshooting
Some assets could not be added
If an asset cannot be added, the Asset Picker stays open and shows an error against that asset. Any assets that succeeded are added to your work. You may also see a message showing how many assets were added and how many failed.
"Too many requests" error
A "too many requests" message, also known as a 429 error, appears when too many requests are made to the service in a short period. Wait a few moments, then try the action again. The problem usually resolves itself within a few minutes.
Sign-in problems
If you cannot sign in, or you are signed out unexpectedly, check that:
-
Your tenant URL is correct, entered without
https://. -
Your email and password are correct for that specific tenant.
If you are signed out while using the Asset Picker, sign in again. The Asset Picker uses a refresh token to keep you signed in between sessions. If this token becomes invalid, you are asked to sign in again, and a new token is created for future sessions.
No derivatives available
When you select an asset, no derivatives are offered. This happens when either you do not have permission to access the derivatives, or no derivatives have been set up for that asset. Confirm that your account has the correct permissions, and that the asset has the derivatives you need. Contact your administrator if you are unsure.
The Asset Picker is unavailable
The Asset Picker is unavailable during Storyteq CMP platform deployments, because of the downtime involved. If you try to use the Asset Picker during a deployment, an error message directs you to try again later.
A previously selected asset no longer appears
Some integrations that authenticate with a service account, such as CA, reference assets using a link that is valid for 7 days. After 7 days, an asset reached through that link, for example in the CA image or crop editor, may no longer appear. Open the Asset Picker again and choose the same asset, or a different one.
