Upload assets
This guide explains how to add new assets to the DAM through the administration area. During upload you can set the asset type, availability dates, and folder, name the upload batch, and optionally run smart tagging straight away.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
-
Admin access to the Assets section of Administration.
Access to the Assets section can be scoped on its own, so a user can upload and manage assets without full administration rights.
Open the asset administration area
Navigate to Administration > Assets. Uploading, editing, and tagging assets all happen in Administration, not in the front-end portal where end users browse and download.
Add assets
-
Select Add Assets.
-
Drag the files you want to upload into the upload area.
-
Configure the upload settings described below.
-
Confirm the upload.
The assets process and become available for management in the Assets section.
New assets are created with a Phase of Quarantined, which keeps them hidden from end users. To make an asset visible on the front end, set its Phase to Active. See Understanding asset availability.
Configure upload settings
During upload, you can configure the following settings:
-
Asset type: determines which download formats are available for the asset. See Understanding transforms.
-
Smart tagging on upload: runs AI tagging on the asset immediately, rather than as a separate step afterwards.
-
Availability dates: set a start and end date to control when the asset is available on the front end.
-
Folder: assign the asset to a folder to organise it within Administration.
-
Upload label: name the upload batch so you can find and bulk-edit the group later. The default label is the upload date and time.
Folders organise assets within Administration only. They do not appear as navigation or filters for end users on the front end.
Manage the uploaded batch
After uploading, you can edit the whole batch in one action.
-
Select Manage the uploaded assets to filter the Assets view to the batch you just uploaded.
-
Select the assets you want to edit, then apply keywords, descriptions, or availability across the selection.
To return to a batch later, select Upload and choose the batch label to re-apply that filter.
Set a memorable upload label so you can re-filter the batch for bulk edits later.
